11th Apr 2023

If you want to install the electrical box outside your house, you need to go for the weatherproof junction box. As the box is outside, you need to protect it from harsh weather conditions, i.e. dust, dirt, heat, rain, and snow.

In most of the buildings and residential areas, the junction box is on the outer walls as they don’t want to compromise on the interior of their house.

Because of this reason, people are using weatherproof junction boxes. It is a strong box made of durable material that can withstand harsh weather.

All the electrical wires will be completely safe in the box. Installing a weatherproof junction box is not a difficult task. If you have a bit of knowledge about electrical work, you can do it yourself.

In this guide, we will show you how to use a weatherproof junction box for protecting wires and cables.

What Is A Waterproof Junction Box?

TJB2 Waterproof Junction Box

A weatherproof electrical junction box is an outdoor electrical box that is designed with added strength to withstand harsh outdoor conditions.

It is designed specifically to withstand elements, including high and low humidity, rain, snow, wind, etc. Weatherproof electrical boxes are made from a variety of materials, including plastic, aluminum, and galvanized steel.

The different materials allow for flexibility for the manufacture and a wide price range. To understand the differences in weatherproof electrical boxes, it is first necessary to understand what they are.

The electric current in a circuit board goes through a series of copper wires, which are protected by what is known as an electro-foam insulation material which is then sealed.

While a protective fuse or circuit breaker is generally provided for each individual circuit in a shared enclosure, they also divide power into multiple sub-circuits while also providing a means to detect outages and provide emergency assistance when needed. In order to store all the electric wires, junction boxes are used.

There are many manufacturers that offer a full line of weatherproof electrical boxes, along with a wide range of accessories to complete your installation.

Weatherproof Junction Box Installation:

Many weatherproof junction boxes offer adjustable components and wiring options that can make them easy to fit the location where they will be placed, whether it be on a pole, building, or out in the yard.
